The name Munno Para, thought to mean “Golden Wattle Creek”, was given to the area in the early days of European settlement and is believed to have been derived from the aboriginal language of the original inhabitants of the plains, the Kaurna.
Munno Para was used to define a large and diverse area, and formed the district council for many years. Today, Munno Para exists as a suburb.
