The Jet Blacks in the Octagon

DescriptionThe Jet Blacks were one of Elizabeth's earliest bands. Formed in 1963, its members came from Elizabeth North, Elizabeth South and Salisbury.

Tony Pearce – lead guitar
Paul Robinson – rhythm guitar
Ray Rains – bass guitar
Martin (Butch) Krollig - drums
Harry Stokes and Bill Volratt – vocals

Playing before the British Music Invasion, their early repertoire was what is known now as 'vintage rock 'n roll'. Later, they played the Stones, Kinks, etc. The Jet Blacks played at many local dances around Elizabeth and Salisbury, including the Friday Midnight Dance at St. Peter's Mission. They started the Sunday evening gig at the Centre's Coffee Lounge and played there for two years, entertaining those who didn't want to stay home on a Sunday night. The Jet Blacks disbanded in 1967. They all went on to other musical adventures.
