Martyn Evans, Mayor of Elizabeth

City of Elizabeth 1981 - 1984

Born 27th November, 1953.  He qualified as a Bachelor of Science, Adelaide University, holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration – S.A.I.T. and was employed as a Public Servant in the South Australian Government.

He first entered Council on 8th July, 1975 and has held the following positions: Councillor – 1975, 1979; Chairman of Finance Committee – 1977, 1978, 1980; Mayor 1981-1984.

His active participation in Council has been during a period of intense growth and expansion in community services.  He has been involved with major initiatives such as the building of the Grenville Centre, the covering of the Swimming Centre, the re-development of the Elizabeth City Centre and re-zoning proposals.

In December, 1984 he successfully contested the House of Assembly Seat of Elizabeth in a by-election and on 31st December resigned from Council.
