Opened in 9 November 1908 by R L Butler M.P. It was built on a spot which was at first a waterhole, inhabited by ducks before drifting sand filled in the hollow. The building served as the social hub of the community, it was used for balls, strawberry fetes, lectures, meetings, and library.
