In 1991, Smithfield West was officially renamed Andrews Farm, by the Geographical Names Board. The suburb is bounded by Stebonheath, Curtis, Andrews, and Petherton roads, which were formerly part of Smithfield West.1
Local Residents along with Hickinbothom Homes petitioned Munno Para Council to have the name change to Andrews Farm.2 A main reason for this was due to the Andrews families association with the area.
John and Grace Andrews arrived at Port Adelaide from Plymouth, England on board the immigrant ship, Stebonheath 11 May 1849. The area known as Stebonheath acquired its name when John Andrews Junior and his family moved into the area in circa 1917-18. He farmed about 650 acres altogether, and was a major wheat and hay farmer in the district. Not all the land was attached to Stebonheath, as he had lease arrangements and share farming arrangements around the districts as well. 3
