Richard Westley who was born on the 12 February 1855 at Islington, Middlesex, England. Richard’s father was John Westley the 3rd who was baptised on the 23 July 1820 at Wood, Ditton Green, Cambridgeshire, England.
John Westley the 3rd was 23 years old he married Liuisa Rose of the same age. They were married on the 31 January 1844 at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, Chelsea, London, England. Louisa was born on the 1 January 1821 at Marylebone, Middlesex. They had the following children:-
Emma Mary was born on the 31 July 1846 at St. Pancras, Middlesex, England.
John was born on the 13 September 1848 at Little Abington, Cambridgeshire.
Sarah Louisa was born on the 25 September 1850 ay Marylebone, Middlisex.
Francis was born on the 20 July 1852 at Fulham, Surrey.
Richard was born on the 12 February 1855 at Islington, Middlesex.
Frederick William was born c1857 at Limehouse, Middlesex.
Eliza Caroline was born in April 1863 at Canning Town, Essex.
Louisa died on the 24 July 1870 at West Ham, Essex aged 49 years old. John re-married about October 1870 to Frances Rutledge aged 22 years old at West Ham. Frances was born in April 1848 at Downham Market, Norfolk. They had the following children:-
Edward Albert was born about February 1874 at Canning Town, Essex.
Roger Robert was born about 1877 at Canning Town, Essex.
Henry William was born about 1881 at Stepney, London.
Frances Rose was born in July 1883 at Canning Town, Essex.
John Westley the 3rd died before the birth of his daughter, passing away in October 1882 at West Ham aged 62 years old. His wife Frances died in June 1940 in Essex aged 92 years old.
When Richard Westley was 20 years old he jumped ship at Port Adelaide on the 3 April 1875, the ship was the British Ambassador.
When Richard was 26 years old he married Jane Mary Wilmhurst aged 29 years old. They were married on the 9 June 1881 at St Luke’s Church, Adelaide. Jane was born on the 25 March 1852 at Thebarton, Adelaide. They had the following children:-
William John was born on the 13 January 1883 at Kent Town, Adelaide.
Harry Stanley was born on the 4 July 1884 at Adelaide. He died on the 9 February 1885.
Milly Jane was born on the 4 August 1886 at Adelaide.
Frank Alexander was born on the 11 August 1888 at Unley, Adelaide.
Mary Jane died on the 27 April 1901 at Wright Street, Adelaide aged 49 years old. Richard was 51 years old he married Rose Martha Mary von Schwartzkopff aged 19 years old. Rose was born on the 19 June 1886 at Lyndoch. They married on the 27 February 1906 at Norwood, Adelaide. They had the following children:-
Charles Richard was born on the 29 January 1907 at Norwood.
Frederick William was born on the 28 July 1908 at Norwood.
Percy Reginald was born on the 10 August 1910 at One Tree Hill.
Walter James was born on the 7 March 1913 at Norwood.
Rose purchased 20 acres of land in the Hundred of Para Wirra in 1935, section 311 312, two acres purchased in Richards name. The land was initially used for growing herbs, worked by Frederick and Walter. Charles and Frederick had a business named “One Tree Hill Freestone Quarries” listed as gardeners and contractors. The partnership dissolved on 1 May 1950.
Frederick William Westley enlisted after 1943, at that time he was working as a gardener in One Tree Hill. He was assigned to Army Citizen Military Forces. His next of kin was his mother.
Frederick William Westley died in 2005? In South Australia aged 97 years old.
When Charles Richard Westley was 28 years old he married Norah Rooney, of the same age. They married on the 27 July 1935. Sadly Norah passed away on the 2 April 1937 at Northfield, aged 25 years old. She was buried at Cheltenham Cemetery.
Charles enlisted for the war on the 3 July 1940 at Keswick, Adelaide. His service number was S28667 and his next of kin was his mother Rose. Charles evidently re-joined on the 8 March 1941, his service number was SX11700 and he was assigned to the 2nd A.I.F.
A social evening was held for Charles in the One Tree Hill hall. The evening was spent dancing with the music provided by Mrs Freeman’s orchestra. Charles was presented with a watch by Mrs H.W Kelly on behalf of the residents.
On the 11 May 1943 he was reported missing, He had been taken as a prisoner of war in Thailand. From May 1943 imtil September 1945His service records are enclosed.
Charles Richard Westley died on the 17 May 1969 in South Australia aged 62 years old. He was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery.
Richard Westley died on the 2 September 1933 at One Tree Hill aged 78 years old and his wife Rose Martha Mary died on the 6 November 1976 aged 90 years old. They are both buried in One Tree Hill, Uniting Church Cemetery.
